I'm trying to get more into painting myself, so I sympathize with "finding your style" and experimenting. Your style will definitely need work but that'll develop pretty naturally from the looks of it, you've already got a fairly good technique and "vision" if you will. I think personally I'd like to see a bit of the actual shapes defined more, maybe some more contrast between light/dark, and probably more "pop" to an image like this. It's wacky for sure and it made me smile, but it's just a tiny bit "weak" or something if that makes sense. Hope that helps. Keep up the awesome work. :)

Thank you, I appreciate your help

It's not very exciting. The character design is neat, but as I understand it's not your own character so you don't really get any points for simply rendering someone else's design, though the technical aspect of that is fairly good. (Surely not everyone is equally good at rendering someone else's art.)

The big problem is that even as fanart, the imagery is not very dynamic: there's no background, no sense of depth, no sense of motion or intention, and no real perspective. Everything just looks kinda... flat, emotionless. Experiment with changing angles and depths, making some things closer to the viewer than others and give a sense of space that the character resides in.

Other than that, even though those are big things, you're on a good path with your technical skill. You just need to refine and expand it to produce more dynamic artwork, and of course hopefully to create something original as well. ;) Keep it up.

Thank you for the criticism. I'll look into what you said.

Perfect! I love the darkness and delightfully eerie mood. Her face is a little funny, like it was hurried or something; I think my main issue is that the top of the head is in a strange spot in relation to the face, if the top center of the head were a little lower and positioned like a fraction of an inch to the right it would be much more pleasing.

Other than that tiny complaint it's beautiful. Great work.

Indeimaus responds:

Thanks for the review, yeah I really don't usually draw faces as you can tell from my other work, I would agree on it being the weakest point in this piece, but glad you like it other than that!

I am arachnophobic. These are very well drawn, my heart jumped a little bit when I opened it lol. That was the test for me. ;) Haha.

Great job, lovely spiders. :]

corporatefilth responds:

I actually was a gigantic faggot when it came to spiders. But after studying and drawing them so much, i kind of started to like them. Definitely not scared anymore. Its all about understanding.

This is extremely adorable. I love the simplicity and the whole style of it, it's very unpretentious and honest in what it is - a simple drawing of a cute character. Very very good. :)

Dejablue responds:

Thanks!

Woww, i really love the style and technique on this one. The sense of depth and solidity is something that tends to be lacking in a lot of art I see here, and the colors and textures are really very pleasing and soft. The contour on the boobs of the fox woman from the lines of her shirt is a really really nice touch and very well done.

Again, really great work. Keep it up.

sketchnfx responds:

Thank you so much :)

Dude, that's deep, yo.

But really I'm a fan of the concept, and the drawing itself is really amazing, technically and stylistically. There's... really nothing majorly wrong with it, so keep up the good work!! :D Haha.

WOW! Stunning, what a perfect blend of vibrant, fun and macabre. I love love LOVE it! Do you take any inspiration from Audrey Kawasaki? That's what your floating hands and smooth, armless shoulders remind me of. :) It looks fantastic, straight to favorites and 5/5. Keep up the great work!!

FallenBane responds:

No actually! I do take quite a bit of inspiration from artists like Gustav Klimt and Adara Sanchez Anguiano though, but I can see where you're coming from with Kawasaki (who is also a spectacular artist that I should look into). Glad you like how this turned out!

The paint job is amazing, I love it. You really have a way with colors and textures that is very interesting in this one. I was going to critique the art style a little, but I see that it wasn't your art, just the color/effects, so I won't. ;)

Keep up the awesome work!

kiareri responds:

actaully any critique or helpful comment you can give me would be appreciated! Thank you! :)

I LOVE the colors and values in this!! The contrast is perfect, it feels very magical and mysterious and it's very VERY stylish.

My ONLY complaint is that it does look a little bit toooo digital for me, but that's only because I'm really not a big fan of 3D art or game graphics kind of art. But considering that, this is amazing and just fabulous. Keep up the wonderful work. 5/5.

Charongess responds:

Thank you! that means a lot especially from some one who is not a fan of game art.
